347H has a higher carbon content than standard 347, which enhances its strength at elevated temperatures. This makes it better suited for pressure vessels and boiler tubes operating at 550°C and above.
Yes. 347H has good weldability, but post-weld cleaning is important to remove scale and reduce sensitization risk. For critical welds, use stabilized welding rods like ER347.
In many high-temp environments, yes. 347H offers similar high-temperature strength as 316H but with better intergranular corrosion resistance due to its columbium stabilization. It’s also more cost-effective than 321 in some markets.
347H is rated for service up to ~870°C (1600°F). However, for long-term exposure, the ideal range is below 800°C to minimize embrittlement.
Yes. 347H is commonly used under ASME Section VIII Div. 1 and meets the requirements for pressure and high-temperature service in thermal plants, refineries, and more.
