FAQs

What makes Inconel 718 unique among superalloys?

Its ability to retain high strength and creep resistance at elevated temperatures (~700°C) while offering excellent weldability and corrosion resistance.

Can Inconel 718 be machined easily?

No. It is a hard-to-machine material. Carbide tooling, slow speeds, and cooling systems are essential. Use solution-annealed condition for rough machining.

Is Inconel 718 suitable for cryogenic temperatures?

Yes. It maintains ductility and toughness even at -200°C, making it ideal for extreme temperature ranges.

What is the difference between Inconel 718 and 625?

625 is softer and better for corrosion; 718 is much stronger due to age hardening. Choose 718 for structural integrity under load and temperature.

What are lead times for Inconel 718 bar to the Middle East?

• From UAE: 1–2 weeks (standard sizes)

• From China: 3–4 weeks

• Custom forgings: 6–8 weeks
