The key difference is carbon content and grain size control. 800H has higher carbon (0.05–0.10%) and is heat-treated for improved creep and stress rupture strength, making it better suited for high-temperature service.
Yes. 800H is specifically designed for service up to 1000°C. It maintains structural stability and oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures, unlike standard stainless steels.
Yes, it is weldable using standard processes like GTAW and SMAW. Use filler metals such as Inco-Weld A or ERNiCr-3. Post-weld heat treatment is generally not required, but grain size control must be maintained for high-temp service.
800H offers superior mechanical strength at high temperatures, while Incoloy 825 is better for acidic and reducing environments. SS 310S can handle even higher temps but has lower long-term strength.
Yes. Incoloy 800H is listed in ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII and approved for elevated temperature applications in petrochemical and thermal plants.
