FAQs

What’s the main difference between Hastelloy C4 and C276?

C4 offers better thermal stability and lower impurity tolerance, ideal for high-temp oxidizing conditions. C276 has broader chemical resistance and is more commonly available.

Is Hastelloy C4 suitable for seawater?

While resistant, C276 is preferred for seawater. C4 is more optimized for hot oxidizing media and chloride stress cracking.

Can you weld Hastelloy C4 without cracking?

Yes. C4 has excellent weldability due to low carbon and silicon. Use matching filler metal and minimize heat input.

What temperature can Hastelloy C4 handle?

Operating up to 1040°C in oxidizing environments. For reducing media, performance varies—consult design codes.

Is 3.2 certification available for EPC or nuclear projects?

Yes. We offer 3.2 certified material upon request with third-party witnessing from SGS, Lloyd’s, etc.
