Hastelloy C276 is commonly used in chemical reactors, acid production plants, flue gas scrubbers, pulp and paper bleaching systems, and wastewater treatment. Its strength is in resisting both oxidizing and reducing agents like hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and wet chlorine.
Yes. It is one of the very few materials that can withstand hot HCl and concentrated H₂SO₄ for extended periods, making it ideal for harsh chemical environments where 316L or 904L fail.
Absolutely. Its high nickel and molybdenum content provides excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride stress corrosion cracking — even in warm, stagnant seawater.
Hastelloy C276 has higher tungsten content and is better suited for reducing environments. C22 has better resistance to oxidizing agents like nitric acid but slightly less performance in reducing acid systems. Selection depends on chemical exposure.
Yes. Hastelloy C276 is highly weldable using GTAW/TIG, SMAW, or MIG. Use ERNiCrMo-4 (AWS A5.14) filler for optimal corrosion resistance. Post-weld cleaning is essential to avoid heat-affected zone corrosion.
• From Dubai stock: 1–2 weeks for plate and fittings
• From China: 4-6 weeks for pipe, sheet, or bar
• From Europe: 4–6 weeks for seamless pipe and custom fabrication
Yes. When properly manufactured and tested, Hastelloy C276 meets NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 requirements for sour service in oil & gas, including resistance to H₂S, chlorides, and CO₂.
